Cover the whole visit
A short job still consumes travel time and vehicle costs. Enter your own costs; the example values are illustrative and are not local market benchmarks. Use the same currency for every amount.
How the calculation works
Labour cost = (travel minutes + included on-site minutes) ÷ 60 × loaded hourly cost. Add vehicle cost and allocated overhead. Divide the total by (1 − target margin ÷ 100).
With the starting example, labour costs 45, the journey costs 10 and allocated overhead is 10. Total cost is 65. At a 25% margin, the calculated price is 86.67 before tax. Adding 25% to cost would produce 81.25 and a 20% margin instead.
What is excluded?
Parts, extra work and taxes are excluded. Add employment costs into your loaded hourly figure where appropriate. Avoid including the same vehicle or labour costs again in overhead. The result is not a guarantee of profitability or a recommended market price.
Should travel cover the return journey?
Account for the travel time your business actually bears. A return trip may be appropriate for a standalone visit; an allocated share may fit a route with several nearby jobs. Do not count the same journey twice.
